More people have climbed Mount Everest than have conquered the waves to swim the English Channel. Now John Docker is aiming to be the first Deaf man in the world to achieve this dream.

Long distance swimming is a mental as well as a physical challenge.  And crossing the Channel depends on close teamwork and tight communication with the people on the support boat.

John will set out on his swim in the summer of 2011.  But his journey has already begun.
